SoulCraft & Windows Azure

by Boje Holtz 16. November 2012 09:31
We just had a wonderful event with Microsoft in the Dark Side Bakery in Berlin. We talked about the technology running in the background of SoulCraft and showed a sneak peek of the upcoming SoulCraft update. Did you know we are using Windows Azure to save the player data, connect all kind of devices (incl. iOS & Android), download server, MP test server, etc.? Cheers, Boje

SoulCraft @ Google I/O photo report

by Karsten Wysk 4. July 2012 18:57

We are now back in good old Germany after an exciting week in San Francisco and as promised here are some pictures of MobileBits & SoulCraft at the Google I/O conference .. of course on Google Plus after being Google brainwashed for a week :)

Content wise it was great exchaning experiences with over 6000 other developers at this conference and we attending lots of great sessions which will hopefully help to improrve SoulCraft in the coming weeks. We surely have a long list of new ideas now!

So hopefully Google will have us again showing SoulCraft or maybe even a new game next year :)

AltDevConf Mono Slides about C# in Games

by Benjamin Nitschke 16. February 2012 13:46
Miguel de Icaza was speaking on the AltDev Conference a few days ago about .NET in games, especially C# with Mono.

There are some interesting points in the slides and some nice history leasons.

We are also honored to be both mentioned with our game SoulCraft and the Delta Engine is also mentioned at the end.

Here are the slides: http://tirania.org/slides/AltDevConf-2012-Mono.pdf

Miguel de Icaza speaks about Xamarin and Delta Engine

by Benjamin Nitschke 14. September 2011 18:47
In one of the latest episodes of the awesome .NET Rocks! show Miguel de Icaza and Nat Friedman speak about their new company Xamarin that is offering MonoTouch for iOS and Mono for Android and also mention our Delta Engine at the end. I listen to the show since 8-9 years (on an off, sometimes trying to catch up, they already have almost 700 episodes) and while it covers nothing about game programming, it is one of the best, most fun and most informative sources of .NET development company information you can get (aside from reading the usual news from sources like CodeProject ^^).

Anway, thanks Miguel for mentioning us. The public beta of the Delta Engine is also coming soon and we have some pretty cool announcements around our licensing model we hopefully can soon announce :)

Also don't forget to check out the currently running Build conference from Microsoft about Windows 8. Lots of cool information about Windows 8 and tablets and the direction Microsoft is heading. We obviously like all the platforms and all platforms Microsoft and Mono provide .NET support for are first class citizens of the Delta Engine (which is coming soon, public beta starts in 2.5 weeks) :)

Quo Vadis 2011 Impressions

by Benjamin Nitschke 6. May 2011 06:33
Here are a few quick impressions from my trip to Berlin to the Quo Vadis on Monday and Tuesday (2011-05-02). I will post another blog entry about the speech I held.

The Quo Vadis developer conference was held in the Berlin Conference Center:

I arrived by train, the train station in Berlin is huge. I also took some pictures back in November 2010 from the TechEd 2011 conference.

On Monday the conference started with some more or less boring talks about political stuff and if games need to be regulated even more. Then some more interesting talks happened with Heiko Huberts from Bigpoint talking about social games and mobile and also the talk from Charles Cecil about self-publishing (switching from traditional PC and console game development to mobile AppStores) was pretty good and fun. The day ended with a pretty boring discussion about Games, Movies and TV. Even the panel itself was bored by this and it made absolutely no sense talking about it as there are not much overlapping parts.

A few impression from Berlin itself (from the area around Alexanderplatz):

Day 2 (Tuesday) was packed with sessions, workshops and interesting talks. There were about 7 talks in parallel so there is lots of stuff I missed, but I attended lots of interesting engine and mobile development sessions and also talked about all this is my session at 15:15 (see the next blog post). Here are also a few impression from the Quo Vadis conference area, talks and booths:

Sadly work is pretty stressful these days as we are working on getting the Delta Engine towards v0.9 and the beta release, so I left at Tuesday evening and missed the great Quo Vadis party and Wednesday. This is a picture from the last talk on Tuesday by BiteTheBytes, 2 funny guys I know for a long time talking about unlimited vertices and CLOD rendering. Until next time ... bye bye Berlin for now :)
